Something Old- 10 Beautiful Ideas for your Wedding

Something Old- 10 Ideas for your Wedding Day

Today we’re crossing the first ‘Something’ of our Somethings Series off our list: Something Old. I know, this one is perfectly suited to us, isn’t it? We think so. If you remember from our first post in the series, the tradition goes that brides should wear or carry with them these tokens of love or good luck on their big day. We’ve got lots of ideas for you to incorporate the ‘something old’ into your outfit… but also a few offbeat ideas to incorporate the ‘something old’ into your ceremony!

Ready? The countdown is on!

Something Old - 10 Ideas to incorporate into your wedding day

1. We LOVE this shabby-chic bouquet. It’s such a sweet alternative to live florals (especially if you’re having a destination wedding it’s easy to pack!). Incorporate some family pendants or jewelry to pay homage to your family that can’t be with you for your wedding- and cross something old off your list!

2. Your family will probably be excited to help you find the perfect ‘something old’. Why not see if your mom, grandma, or aunt has an old bracelet or pair of earrings you could borrow? (That also crosses off the something borrowed!) Bonus points if the piece was worn on their wedding day.

3.Whether it be your mothers, like this bride, or a vintage one… your veil is the perfect accessory to show off your ‘something old’. Although wedding dresses may have changed (a lot) veils have remained fairly consistent- and they’re easily adaptable in length and style.

4. We love a vintage dress… this vintage crochet one is so stunning! Enough said, right?

5. Speaking of vintage items… why not opt for a vintage wedding band? You may not carry it in with you, but you’ll certainly carry it out! (Source)

6. One of the ideas that doesn’t involve you wearing or carrying it (thank goodness!) is to have a vintage ride waiting for you to say your I Do’s. We can’t get enough of the florals gracing this one!

7. Another ‘no wear/no carry’ idea is to dress your ceremony in the ‘something old’. This is our specialty- and it’s really, really pretty. This wedding did a great job of that! We have tons of doors… but I’m dreaming of this vintage arbor dripping with lush florals! Can someone make that happen for me, pretty please?

8. We love this necklace… so. so. much. The bride had it made out of lace from her mother’s wedding dress. How special is that for your something old!?

9. If you’d like to incorporate a piece of your mom’s wedding dress, but your dress doesn’t accommodate a necklace… you can always add it to your bouquet! We love how this bouquet features the buttons.

10. Our last idea is another bouquet beauty! A vintage (or family heirloom) locket holding photos of family who can’t be with you on your day can be wrapped around your bouquet as you walk down the aisle. This would be incredibly special if you had a close friend or family member who has passed away.

So let’s hear your ideas! Will you participate in the tradition? What piece would represent your something old?
